The European Youth Parliament is very glad to be hosting its next session in Bari, a city of European history, in the heart of the Mediterranean region. From November 11th to November 20th, 2005, Europe's youth, represented by 220 pupils from some 30 European nations, meets here for the Jubilee 50th International Session of the European Youth Parliament to discuss Europe's future, our future.
The program will have the very original approach of a multi-regional session. In fact, the first three days of activities will be held in Basilicata, in the beautiful city of Matera. Delegates will get to know each other through teambuilding and cultural activities, including a very special welcome night where Matera will display its best assets. Delegates will then move to Bari for the rest of the week working together in committees and developing resolutions on a range of diverse topics which will then be discussed according to the rules of the European Parliament, in the Guardia di Finanza Building in a great General Assembly towards the end of the session.
However, the delegates meet not only to discuss European politics but also to truly experience European diversity themselves. Several cultural highlights are offered during the ten-day session, where participants will be able to celebrate European diversity as well as get a taste of Southern Italy’s warmth and tradition. Throughout the session, there will also be various evening and further cultural activities.
EYP Italy is pleased to organize this event, with a workforce of 20 restless National organizers. The session will be held under the patronage of the Highest Institutions in Italy: the President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi, the President of the Senate, Marcello Pera, the Presidency of the Ministry Council and the Highest local and regional authorities.
